Washburn Leader Selected for Bellevue TransManage Advisory Board | |||||||||||||||||||||
Bellevue, WA, August 2008 – TransManage—a service of the Bellevue Downtown Association dedicated to maximizing the use of eco-friendly transportation options—has selected Washburn Vice President, Dixie Crockford, to join its advisory board. “This is a great opportunity to get involved in Bellevue’s green initiatives,” says Crockford, who will officially join the board at their first meeting on September 5. “I am looking forward to working with other board members and business leaders in the area on moving these plans forward.” TransManage will work to find ways to reach the goal of removing 5,000 single-occupancy vehicle trips from the road by 2012. Washburn currently reduces its carbon footprint by offering staff company-paid bus passes, of which the majority of employees take advantage. “With the FlexPass card provided through Washburn, I found that public transit is, by far, the best commuting option for me,” says Tim Cashman, Writer at Washburn. “I save about one hour of commute time every day by taking the bus from Tacoma to Bellevue—not to mention the savings on gas.” Crockford anticipates her involvement will help ensure Bellevue-based professionals like Cashman have efficient, environmentally sound options for commuting to work.### |
